If you live in Cardiff and are a reader of Cardiff Life then you may have spotted a chirpy miscreant gurning against the backdrop of a bridge in Stockholm. That miscreant was our founder, Stephen Milburn, having a quick chin-wag with Neil Cocker about our Trippa Travel App series.
So the interview goes…
In this month’s 60-second Q&A, NEIL COCKER talks to Stephen Milburn from Trippa, another Cardiff start-up making waves…
Q: So, what does your start-up do?
A: We publish travel apps to the world’s best cities. Obviously, Cardiff was the first!
Q: What makes Trippa special?
A: We’re able to reach all corners of the globe with our product. We’re lucky that English is the lingua franca of the App Store as it’s the only language we publish in at the moment. It hasn’t stopped our apps being downloaded all over the world.
Q: What made you realise you had to build this company?
A: I was in Berlin for a conference and wanted to get underneath the city’s skin. I made list of the things I wanted to know and built an app , Trippa grew from there.
Q: How’s business at the moment?
A: Our Trippa Cardiff guide is the most popular guide to the city on iTunes and the download figures for our other destinations have been really encouraging. Our game- changer is to get our users to experience a destination with the people who know it most: its residents.
Q: Where would you like Trippa to be in five years’ time?
A: I want to change the way people use their mobile devices to travel and discover. It won’t be easy, but we’ll definitely get there.
As well as prancing around the world making Trippa travel guides, Stephen is also the founder / lead developer / coffee boy of Tradebox Media.
